The year 2020 will mark the 100th anniversary of ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which secured women in the U.S. the right to vote. On this occasion, it is important to remember that the Humane Party has addressed the gap between the proposed Equal Rights Amendment in 1923 and current social issues, by drafting a new Constitutional amendment that would be fully inclusive of gender-, sexuality-, and marriage-related rights.
On June 4, 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decision in the case of Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd., et al. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission et al. This ruling demonstrates the continuing need for the Equal Rights Amendment II.
This year marks the 170th anniversary of the Seneca Falls Convention of 1848. In recognition of the convention organizers’ contribution to the cause of equality under the law, the Humane Party dedicates National Civil Rights Day 2018 to the organizers of the Seneca Falls Convention.
