Born in Los Angeles, California, but raised in Japan, Singapore and Thailand, Guy Rittger joined the Humane Party in January 2017, as the national technology coordinator, in response to an invitation from Humane Party 2016 Presidential candidate Clifton Roberts, who encountered Guy’s abolitionist vegan commentary in the Vegan Leaders in Corporate Management LinkedIn group.

Guy came to veganism in June 2014 after learning about practices in the egg industry via Facebook video posts.  The magnitude of that violence and trivialization of innocent life clashed with his longtime commitment to Left anti-war politics, human rights advocacy and love of pit bulls, leading him to embrace abolitionist veganism overnight.

His technology career spans nearly 25 years, including stints at Charles Schwab, Hewlett Packard, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and Airbnb, where he is currently Technical Program Manager responsible for platform performance optimization.  In his first year as Humane Party technology coordinator, Guy migrated the Party’s homegrown volunteer database to a cloud-based CRM platform, added new volunteer sign-up and contact forms to the web site, launched an online learning management system (LMS) for delivering training materials, and created a technical architecture plan.  He also contributed to writing the Humane Party fundraising guidelines.

For 2018, Guy and the technology team are focusing on moving the Party donation system to PayPal, doing an extensive redesign of the web site, implementing email marketing capabilities, expanding LMS usage, and providing additional governance for the Humane Party’s use of technology.  He also hopes to contribute policy and research articles, in his increasingly limited spare time.

Guy currently lives in San Francisco and, when not working or keeping an eye on Humane Party technology, he enjoys racing sailboats, bicycling, and vegan cooking.
