Perspectives from beyond the newsroom.
There is power in a movement that not only speaks—but listens.
At the Humane Herald, our work has always been rooted in ethical clarity, investigative rigor, and a commitment to animal liberation. But movements are not built by editors alone. They are shaped, challenged, and strengthened by the people within them—the readers, the advocates, the observers, and even the critics.
From the People is our space for that exchange.
Inspired in part by the tradition of letters to the editor, this column reimagines that format for a modern movement—expanding beyond reaction into reflection, analysis, and lived experience.
This column will feature submitted essays, reflections, and opinion pieces from members of the broader community. Some contributors may be deeply embedded in animal rights advocacy. Others may be engaging with these ideas for the first time. What unites them is a willingness to think critically, speak honestly, and participate in the ongoing conversation about ethics, justice, and our relationship with nonhuman animals.
We believe there is value in engaging with a range of perspectives—not to dilute our stance, but to sharpen it.
Each submission will be clearly presented as a contributor piece and will not necessarily reflect the official positions of the Humane Herald or the Humane Party. However, all submissions will be reviewed and edited for clarity, relevance, and alignment with our broader mission: advancing a world grounded in compassion, reason, and abolition.
This is not an open platform for harm. We will not publish content that promotes violence, oppression, or the exploitation of animals. But within those boundaries, we welcome thoughtful disagreement, personal reflection, and evolving perspectives.
Because a movement that cannot be examined is a movement that cannot grow.

A Note on Voice and Responsibility
While From the People creates space for broader participation, the Humane Herald remains grounded in its commitment to veganism, animal liberation, and abolitionist ethics.
We encourage contributors to engage with political, cultural, and ethical topics—including those beyond animal advocacy—while recognizing that these discussions exist within a publication that holds a clear moral framework.
Launching April 2026
We are currently accepting submissions for our inaugural run of From the People, launching in April 2026.
Whether you are a lifelong advocate or someone just beginning to question the world around you—your voice may have a place here.
Because this movement belongs to all of us.
