Dear Humane Party of New York,
Greetings! I’m thrilled to launch our first official newsletter for the NY Chapter, a communication channel to keep you informed about your party’s progress, animal rights developments, and our approach to creating change through electoral politics in New York.
This year, we’re focusing on three key initiatives:
- 2025 NYC Council Elections: We’re committed to running on the City Council ballot, bringing animal protection directly into local city government.
- Community Building: We’ll host regular social events and Party meetings to unite New York’s animal rights activists, vegans, and community volunteers, fostering collaboration and collective power.
- Community Impact Projects: We’re developing public service initiatives that will demonstrate the tangible benefits of our movement and build trust with local communities.
Please engage with the work in whatever way resonates most with you. Whether you’re passionate about electoral campaigns, community organizing, or developing local projects, there’s a place for your energy and vision.
Reach out and connect as you see opportunities that excite you. Together, we can transform our shared commitment to animal protection into meaningful, systemic change.
In solidarity,
Patrick Glaser, Humane Party

January Recap:
On January 5th, the Humane Party of New York hosted a Party meeting in Midtown Manhattan, bringing together approximately 25 local animal advocates, vegans and supporters committed to advancing animal protection through political engagement.
The event featured a dynamic lineup of presentations and discussions:

- Craig Seeman, a local political strategist and Humane Party volunteer, delivered insights into the process of running a political campaign.
- John Otrompke led an interactive workshop focused on developing the local Party’s plans for 2025.
- A panel of prominent local activists shared their perspectives, including:
- Paola Smith from Anonymous for the Voiceless
- Donny Moss of TheirTurn
- John Di Leonardo representing Humane Long Island
- Shannon McGrath from The Humane League
Participants engaged in robust dialogue about the party’s 2025 goals, including City Council election strategies, community organizing efforts, and innovative approaches to advancing animal rights in New York.

Opportunities to Impact NY Policy and Politics:
Ban the Rodeo in NYC: The rodeo inflicts significant cruelty on animals – causing physical and psychological harm. New York City can join other cities in protecting animals by supporting Christian Animal Rights’ letter-writing campaign to NYC Council Members, with interested NYC residents invited to email Mathew King at info@christiananimalrights.com to participate in this critical advocacy effort. Learn more about why it is essential to connect with your representatives in NYC on this issue here and then be in touch with Mathew for a sample letter.
Establish a NYC Council Animal Issues Committee: Currently, concerns related to animal issues in NYC are relegated to the Health Committee and do not receive adequate attention. This petition will request of City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams to establish a dedicated Committee on Animal Issues. Sign the petition here.
